EEND 678 Effective Technology Integration into Lessons & Curriculum - Fall 2017 Reflection

I feel like I learned a lot from this course.  There were a lot of articles that were helpful in my growth as a connected educator.  All of the articles from Module 7 were interesting.  Karen Kane in the article 41 Tips, Tricks and Techniques for Your 1:1 Classroom  had some great tips, separated by topic.  It included links to other articles or applications that would help manage your 1:1 classroom.  I have already used several of the links from that article!  So many ideas!

I also enjoyed the Tech Tool Hunt google doc that we created in Module 2.  It is great to have a resource that is filled with ideas put together by other teachers.  I have moved this to my Google Drive with the intention of revisiting it in the future.

I look forward to taking more technology courses to help grow my knowledge of EdTech.  I hope to get an endorsement in Instructional technology.

  1. Jill,
I also enjoyed the tech tool hunt. It is always nice to see what tools other educators find valuable. I think that it is a great idea that you made a copy and saved it in your drive. I'm sure that it will come in handy in the future. Enjoy your future classes!

  2. Jill,

It has been a pleasure learning and growing as educators together. I also enjoyed using the Tech Tool Hunt as a tool not only in our class but for the future.

  3. Jill,

Week 7 did have a lot of great resources to help with managing 1:1 devices in the classroom. One of the best management tools that I like is GoGuardian. It allows you to look at all of your students screens from your computer screen. If they are getting distracted and on a site that you do not want them to be on you can kick them off of it and write them a message to tell them to stay on task. Also, that article had many tips about walking around to monitor their computers as well. I do think that is important to walk around as well and this can be helpful to reduce many off task behaviors. I really enjoyed making that technology agreement contract for the students. This sets the expectations high for the management and care of these devices.

Furthermore, I also enjoyed the tech tool hunt. I did the same thing as you and made a copy to my drive to use as a resource to help me to continue to get better with technology. That was a great project that can be beneficial to all of us in the class.
I look forward to continuing taking many more tech courses at University of St. Francis as well.

  4. Jill,

Thank you for reminding me about that article, I will definitely revisit that article as well to review that great tips they shared! I also talked about the Tech Tool hunt in my blog as well. I feel like this activity benefited not only our only learning, but also all of our colleagues too; it is sitting in my Google drive too! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and good luck to you in the other courses!

  5. I also found the tech tool hunt to be a terrific exercise that provided me insight into tools I wouldn't have known about. I plan to utilize/try many of these resources in during the school year.

Like you, I plan to continue the courses to hopefully earn the endorsement.

  6. Hi Jill,
Like so many others in the class, I found the tech tool hunt to be a useful resource that I have saved on my drive. I find that I have referred to it already when looking for a particular tool to use with a lesson. I have also used the tech tool hunt when talking with colleagues. I shared some of the ways other teachers have used technology with the different levels of SAMR. It helps to have the examples of how it was used and at what level. Good luck with your endorsement!
